My conure hit her head, was dizzy, but seems fine. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 8 months old

I'm little worried about my conure Pepe, She hit her head while out of the cage and when I put her back in, she couldnt keep her balance very well on the perches. Her head seemed like it was swaying around and she would lose her balance on my finger as well. I let her sit on my rank top and lay on my chest for a little bit, she seems fine now and has her balance back. I'm still a little worried, but had to get to work asap before I was late. She seemed fine and was acting normal before I left.

She likely was disoriented afterwards and has since recovered. She should be fine going forward. Monitor for lethargy or difficulty perching in the future and have her examined by your veterinarian or an experienced avian veterinarian if necessary.

As long as she is behaving normally, you can monitor her at home. the loose droppings were likely stress related. If they don't firm up or if Red develops lethargy, bleeding, bruising or loss of appetite, then you should have her examined.
