Why are live fleas still on my cat after Revolution treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 5 months and 23 days old | 10 lbs

Does revolution tend to not work sometimes for fleas ? My cats have been treated for almost 2 weeks now and I keep finding a lot of fleas on them live. I don’t know what else I could do....

If you have a flea infestation in your house or yard it will be harder for the Revolution to be fully effective. Make sure you vacuum regularly, and treat the other pets in the household as well as the yard if that is practical. I use a flea comb dipped in soapy water to catch the fleas on Dexter. You’ll find that the fleas are slower than normal because they are dying. If you are consistent with your flea control in the house, other pets, and yard and use Revolution monthly as directed the fleas should all be gone in several weeks. You are doing a good job. Keep up with the vacuuming and I would use a flea comb on them daily to catch and kill any live fleas. You can dip the comb in a dilute mixture of dawn dish soap and water. Often the Revolution will kill the fleas but it takes time for them all to die off. After a few weeks all of the fleas should be gone. Continue the Revolution monthly and they shouldn’t get another infestation.
