My dog has hard, yellow poop with blood. Is it constipation?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 10 months and 1 day old | 13 lbs

My dog has just started having hard light yellow/white poops. I saw a blood streak on one I assumed from the constipation.

Hi there. Yes that is certainly abnormal. If there is blood on the poop it is likely from bleeding happening in his colon. You can try feeding him 1 tablespoon of canned unsweetened pumpkin to soften his stool but if that doesn’t clear things up I would have him seen by your veterinarian to find out why his stool has changed color and why there is blood in it. Best to you and Riley.
