Stray kitten with injured eye and bloody diarrhea: What should I do?

Found a 3 week old stray kitten its eye looks badly injured i brought it home bathed it and fed it the next day she got diarrhea and had 2 spots of blood come out should I be worried about the blood also what should I do for now about the eye I plan on taking her to the vet as soon as possible

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! He is adorable! The eye could have suffered some damage perhaps caused by trauma requiring medical or even surgical help. The diarrhea could be perhaps due to parasites. I highly recommend that you have your kitty evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment which may include eye drops and anti-diarrhea medications.     This will be bothering Tiger, it appears he has an eye infection or may have injured his eye. Any eye problem has to be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take him into a vet today to get this diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.

    Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It's hard to say from the picture but it looks like Barfi has an infection in that eye. There could be some trauma, too. He is in danger of losing the eye if it isn't treated, however, it is a possibility we are already past that point. I would keep trying to catch him so he can be seen by a vet. They will discuss your options. If the eye needs to be removed it will be ok. He will see great with the good eye and it's better to get that painful eye out. Good luck to you and Barfi!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. Diarrhea could be due to something like parasites for instance which is treated with medications or it may be transient. I highly recommend that you have Tequila evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Good luck and best wishes!

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Billy! I think the eye and the bloody stool are 2 separate things. The most common cause of increased blinking of the eye (from pain) is from herpes viral infections. Almost all cats have been exposed. They can either clear the virus, become chronically infected (chronic nasal discharge and congestion and/or chronic eye issues) or they become carriers and have eye or nasal flare ups with stress. Being a foster and going to a new home is stressful and likely is causing a flare up. We treat the eye with ointment antibiotics to prevent secondary bacterial infections. The eye usually improves in a week or so. Possible causes of the bloody diarrhea are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, pancreatitis, new environment (stress) or a food allergy or intolerance. I recommend having Billy evaluated by a Vet to have his eye treated and medications for his bloody stool. Bring a stool sample to have tested for parasites. You can also st

Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco to address your concern. It sounds as if Cooky may be dehydrated having the diarrhea for several days now. If the diarrhea has not improved and she is in the current state that you are describing, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. If she is dehydrated, she would benefit from having subcutaneous fluids administered to help rehydrate her. I would also recommend bringing a fecal sample to the vet for testing to ensure she does not have intestinal parasites. I hope this guides you in the right direction! Hello. Thank you for rescuing this kitten. I would be most concerned about this kitten having an infection & most certainly having a large number of parasites it its gut. Roundworms are especially common in kittens & can cause significant discomfort & diarrhea. Poor Boi! It sounds like he may have a few things going on, including a possible upper respiratory infection and possibly some internal parasites causing his diarrhea. Both of these are very common in cats adopted from shelter or rescue situations, and stress/change can certainly make it worse. If both eyes are affected to the point of swelling shut and he's very congested/feverish, it is best to seek veterinary care for a full exam and for any antibiotics as needed- plus you can bring in a sample of his stool to check for parasites and have those treated at the same time. Until you can get into the vet, using a warm wet washcloth to remove any discharge and debris from the nose and eyes and keeping him eating and drinking can help some.

My kitten is Approx 19 weeks old and has developed deep open wounds and has diarrhea constantly. She is pooping all over the house and in her box. She has oozing coming coming from her eye also.
Oh dear, Evee sounds quite sick! Kittens can develop diarrhea for a variety of reasons, with some of the more common causes including intestinal parasites and viruses. With enough diarrhea, Evee could become dehydrated quickly. Discharge from the eyes can be caused by herpesvirus infections (which can be related to upper respiratory tract infections, but not contagious to people), a corneal ulcer, or other eye infection. I don't know where her deep wounds are originating from, but regardless of the cause, it sounds as though Evee needs to go to her vet fairly urgently for evaluation. The vet will be able to assess her hydration and signs of abdominal pain, examine her eyes, perform a fecal flotation test for parasites, and evaluate her wounds. From there, the vet will be able to provide you with the best course of treatment to manage these issues. Until you can take her to the vet (preferably today or tomorrow), be sure to keep an e-collar (cone) on Evee to prevent her from licking/rub

I would recommend taking your kitten in to be evaluated by a veterinarian. Your kitten is most likely suffering from intestinal parasites, which can cause vomiting and diarrhea. Regardless, this warrants a veterinary evaluation for further assessment as soon as possible as he looks to be in pain or discomfort. There is clearly something wrong with her eye, and it appears the conjunctiva is quite swollen. I'm wondering if there is blood on her face from her eye or if there is another problem with her face such as a skin infection. This eye problem has to be checked out by a vet immediately, it cannot be treated at home. Any eye problem is an emergency because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. You need to find an open vet to see her asap. As for her being smaller, it may be she has intestinal worms, which are common in kittens. The vet can treat that as well. I hope this helps!
