Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 lbs

Hello my cat is about 8 years old and has scab all around his neck and parts of his spinal area . Also he’s always crying for food like he’s starving but feed him about 2 times a day and has lost a good amount of weight . We’ve tried the de worming medicine and the cortisone for cats spray . We’ve taken him to a vet and they said an allergic reaction but Changed his diet and still nothing has changed . What could this be ?

This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you de-flea Pepper regularly every month with a high quality spot on (ex. Advantage) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or cyclosporin in order to stop the allergy.
