Why is there a gap in my kitten's spay incision 8 days after surgery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | spayed | 4 months and 19 days old

My kitten doesn’t seem to be in any pain, but I’m worried about the gap in her spay incision. She was spayed 8 days ago

This incision is fine. It is healing from the inside out. Over the next few weeks thie skin will fill in and the fur will grow back. You may still feel the absorbable sutures under the skin for another month. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Chai.
