My cat's pupil looks scratched, but has no symptoms. What is it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 7 months old

Hello, i just noticed something on my cats pupil that seems like a scratch. Its not on the surface of the eye, and cat doesn't appear to have any discomfort or pain, not watering of the eye or redness. My vet whom i sent same image said its thr light reflecting on the lense, and that i have nothing to worry about.

Based on the picture I suspect it may be a persistent pupillary membrane. This is a birth defect, but does not cause any problems. However, pictures can be deceiving and I would highly encourage you to have it looked at in person by a veterinarian. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
