My dog spit out liquid from syringe. Should I worry about aspiration?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 7 months and 30 days old | 15.6 lbs

I was giving my dog probiotics mixed in water via syringe and gave her too much at once, causing most of it to run out of her mouth. She seems fine but I'm worried about aspiration. If she had aspirated would she be showing symptoms?

They are usually good at keeping things out of their airway, so it's rather difficult to make a dogs aspirate even if you give too much at one time. If she aspirated some, then it would definitely be obvious and she would be coughing right away. If you did not see that, then there is no need to worry about any problems developing later on. I hope that helps and all is well with Luna.
