This dewormer is only for roundworms, if your dog is a young puppy then it is fine, if your dog is older than that it will not be good for him as most dogs suffer from tapeworms rather than roundworms.

That dose should be safe for your dog, but if they are flat worms they are likely tapeworms, which won't be treated by a round worm dewormer like prosense. I would recommend speaking to you vet and taking a stool sample to them so they can find out what type of worms are present so you can get the appropriate treatment.

This product can be used only in kittens older than 6 weeks and it is effective against roundworms. I would recommend to use a different product (ideally on prescription from your local vet) for tapeworms. Fenbendazole - Panacur- could be a good option.

Round worms are usually treated with pyrantel pamoate which can be used in dogs of all ages. Using a monthly heartworm prevention, like Heartgard, would protect your dogs from heartworms and intestinal parasites so you should talk to your vet about starting Heartgard every month.

You can get any puppy wormer available from the pet store or your vet. For your elderly chihuahua you can get any dog wormer available. Sentry, Panacur, Safeguard are some wormers suitable. for dogs and will cover all worms except tape worms

This is a roundworm. He is old enough to give pyrantel a safe dewormer that is for roundworms and hook worms. That dewormer is inexpensive. You may be able to purchase it at your pet or feed store depending on where you live. Otherwise your veterinarian can deworm him. Proton should be dewormed every two weeks until a stool sample comes back negative. When he is old enough to start heartworm medication that also will prevent another parasite infection. Please keep the children away from his poop and wash their hands and yours after handling Proton. People can get roundworms but it is not common with normal hygiene. Treatment should not harm her as long as she is otherwise healthy. The most common side effect of a deworming is some minor stomach upset (vomiting or diarrhea). Not treating her is far riskier to her overall health. Consider a monthly preventative that will protect against heartworm as well as the 3 most common intestinal parasites: hookworm, whipworm and roundworm. Discuss options/products with your veterinarian.

Piperazine only works for roundworms. Panacur treats roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and tapeworms. We prefer to treat all the worms as dogs can often have low levels of other types of worms that may not show up in the fecal exam. You can try mixing the granules in yogurt or even a few table spoons of vanilla (not chocolate!) ice cream to hide the flavor.

Hi and thanks for posting on Boop by Petco! The Prosense Dewormer packaging label says for kittens under 6 weeks of age give 1/4 teaspoon per 2.5 lbs and is not recommended for kittens under 2.5 lbs. I would ask your veterinarian for another medication that can be used in small kittens (such as pyrantel). The anti-diarrhea medication from Nutri-Vet is okay to give. Kittens are frequently born with roundworms. This is not uncommon. They get roundworms through their mother during pregnancy and during nursing. I hope this helps!
