Pet's info: Dog | Lhasa Apso | Male | neutered | 7 years and 1 month old | 30 lbs
Today at an off-leash dog park, a lab mix looking dog bounded up to mine in an excited way and they sniffed each other. My own dog was interested in saying hi too, but didn't seem as excited as the lab mix, if that's any behavioral help. For a few seconds it seemed ok, but suddenly the other dog got aggressive and started snarling, barking and biting my dog (no injuries luckily). The other owner and I broke it up, but I was wondering why dogs sometimes do that. Could it be miscommunication?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is most of the time dogs being territorial or even trying to be protective of their owners. Sometimes as difficult as it seems to comprehend, they just do not like each other. I am glad to hear that Chaktah was not injured in the process. Good luck and have a good day!
