My ferret burned his paws. Is sleeping all day normal or serious?

hi my ferret wyatte was accidentally burned on his paws the other day, ive been putting ointment and cleaning his paws like the other vet told me on here. but im a bit worried he sleeping all day hasnt gotten up to play or anything. but he does eat and drink and poop . so is that ok for him or is he getting sicker from his paws being burned. or is it just hes resting ? how would i know if his paws are getting better or worse ?

Burns are generally very painful. When they occur on the feet, sometimes we can make them comfortable with bandaging, but it sounds like Wyatt may need some pain medication. I often find that I need to give my burn patients antibiotoics as well, so I would have your veterinarian examine Wyatt's feet to determine if they are looking infected or painful and decide on medication for him.
