Why is my dog scratching and bleeding after liquid flea meds?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered

My dog constantly picks at his fur on his lower back. We recently applied a liquid flee treatment on him. The treatment was applied to the neck all the way down to the tail in a straight line. He now constantly picks and makes himself bleed. I have no idea what to do and I don’t want to take a trip to the vet.

Lucius is probably suffering from an allergy that is causing this, you will need to take him to the vet in order to get a prescription for allergy meds, he might also need to wear an e-collar for a few days to prevent him from making it worse.
