Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 50 lbs
I have a mother dog and her pups are 4 weeks old, they eat soft puppy chow and drink water but the mother is still producing milk and won't let them nurse. Also her teats are large and hang low, but aren't hot just body temp. Is this normal?

Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This sounds completely normal for Gracie. She is trying to wean the puppies and her teats will get smaller over time. Puppies and Gracie should be dewormed with pyrantel pamoate starting at 2 weeks of age. The deworming should be done every 2-3 weeks on the puppies. Gracie should be dewormed at least twice 3 weeks apart. Good luck
