My dog Lily has been acting different. She has been licking a spot on her arm so much that is raw now. She isn’t eating very much. She is sleeping more. Her nose is warm. What wrong with her?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It sounds like Lily may have an infection which may be making her feel poorly. Sometimes skin infections can be quite painful and cause enough discomfort to cause them to stop eating and to become lethargic. I recommend that you have her evaluted by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This is usually easily treated. Good luck and have a good day!

I am so sorry Lily isn't feeling that great. While this is not an emergency, it is something that should be addressed. I would make sure that Lily is on a Flea/Tick prevention and that you bring her to your regular veterinarian. The reason she should go to the veterinarian is to make sure there is no infection in the skin and give medication to help with the itch. Also to see what is going on with her skin. I would also recommend getting an ecollar to have her wear until you are able to get her to a veterinarian. This is to help her stop licking and to help prevent a hot spot (if it hasn't formed already or prevent it from getting worse). Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
