Why is my dog lethargic, not eating, and drinking a lot during heat?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | unspayed | 6 years and 6 months old | 70 lbs

My staffy cross is 7yrs old and intact. She is currently in season and is off her food and drinking more than usual. She is also very lethargic.

Drinking more than usual, loss of appetite, or vomiting are all classic signs of an infection if the uterus also known as a pyometra. These are more common in older dogs. These can become very serious and even life threatening if left untreated. I would strongly advise that you gave a veterinarian examine Misty right away.
