My dog's tick bite has pus after removal. Is this normal for dogs?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Rottweiler | Female | spayed | 2 years and 3 months old | 110 lbs

My 2 year old German rottie was bit by a tick. And the affected area looks like there is pus in it. I removed the tick about 30 mins ago. And removed the entire tick. Also Kota has had the immunization that prevents any diseases ticks may carry in the case she is bitten

Dakota may be vaccinated against Lyme disease which is transmited by ticks but there is no vaccination for tick fever so this is something you might need to look after. overall she should be fine, it may take several days until the affected area starts looking better though.
