Dog's head lump growing despite antibiotics. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | neutered | 5 months and 14 days old | 31 lbs

Hi, we just got our dog 6 days ago and it had a tiny bump on his head with a scar. He was found as a stray. Within two days it has grown into a golf size lump. I took him to the vet earlier today and they said it was an infection and not cancer and gave me antibiotics. Within hours it has doubled in size. Not sure what to do?

You should give the antibiotics a couple days to work, i am hoping that by Sunday you will start seeing some improvement. if by Monday it is not getting better take him back to the vet, it might need to be opened surgically in order to drain the fluids that are accumulating on that spot.
