What's this crusty, pus-filled lump on my 10-month-old pit's lip?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 8 months and 19 days old | 60 lbs

My 10 month old pit has a raised lump on the skin of her lip. It has been there for a wk. It started out hard and crusty. If I squeezed it pus came out around the edge. Now the crust is gone and the pus comes out of the middle. It is about the size of a pea.

Some young dogs will sometimes develop a skin infection or pyoderma. But a foreign object or a mass are possibilities as well. However, if it is not resolving then an appointment with your veterinarian would be recommended. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
