When to schedule exterminator vs cat flea baths for severe fleas?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 5 years and 11 months old | 10 lbs

After seven weeks of frontline home applications, daily flea combing, daily powdering and vacuuming of carpets, washing all bedding and furniture coverings, and proper careful disposal of all gathered fleas, larvae and eggs...we need a professional exterminator. Which should I schedule first? The exterminator or the professional flea baths for my two adult cats? FYI, I also have a 22 month old son in my home full time.

I would schedule the exterminator first, and then while the exterminator is flea bombing your house, take your cats out for the flea baths. They have to be out of the house anyway at the time of the treatment, so it's best to get it done then so they can come home to a disinfected house. Good luck!
