Is my puppy's yellow poop caused by ear meds, or is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Bulldog | Male | unneutered | 52 lbs

My puppy has an ear infection due to allergies. He is on meds now and starting to feel better. I noticed his pop is very yellow, kind of the same colour as the ear drops. Are the meds causing his pop to be yellow or should I be worried about something else?

Generally, topical medications such as ear drops are not absorbed into the system enough to cause gastrointestinal changes. More likely there is something else going on that is causing the stool color change. Young puppies are susceptible to infection including intestinal parasites and easily develop diarrhea due to a change in the diet. If the issue persists, it's definitely worth taking him to your local vet for an exam.
