Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 16 years and 7 months old
I took in my grandfathers cat after he passed away 2 weeks ago and although generally she seems to be settling in well, she has had a runny tummy since arriving at ours. We are using whiskas which is what she ate before with some biscuits, and she is eating fine, she’s just got a very loose stool every time she goes to the toilet. She is 16 years old and is very affectionate, she drinks and isn’t dehydrated, just had a runny tummy. Do you have any advice for food to try or ways to reduce this?

You can find a feline probiotic to add to her diet or try a sensitive stomach formula food or a prescription such as Science Diet I/D. If this does not improve the stool she may need to see a vet. Older cats can get an inflammatory bowel disease and stress can definitely make it worse. It will take some vitamin supplements and daily medication but usually improves by then. If not then they will look into further testing such as an ultrasound or a biopsy.
