Hello, I am in need of your advice. My cat which is about 3 years old now has had bloody stools for some time now. I don't have the financial stability to go to the vet right now but was wondering what you think may be going on? Ricos'(cats name) demeanor has always been the same. He plays regularly as well as eats and drinks water daily. He has not shown any signs of pain of discomfort. Please help with your advice.

Hello, sorry to hear about Rico. I would be most suspicious that he may have inflammatory bowel disease which needs to be diagnosed with an abdominal ultrasound and intestinal biopsies. You can try and change his diet to a novel protein source (rabbit, duck, venison) and see if this helps. The trial should be performed for 4-6 weeks and you must be strict about not feeding him any other kind of food (no treats, table scraps, or other kind of food). If this does not work, you can then add fiber in the form of plain pumpkin for several weeks to see if this changes his stools. Hope this helps and best of luck.
