My puppy has a nose hump. Is it serious? Should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 7 months and 24 days old | 7.5 lbs

My chihuahua poodle mix who is 7 months olds has a hump on the middle of his nose it doesn’t bother him and he doesn’t cry when I touch it. He does tend to scratch at his nose a lot. Is it something I should really worry about and rush him to the vet?

Hi and thanks for posting! The area around his nose does look a little red and swollen. Although perhaps not an emergency, I would try and get Prompto in to see his veterinarian as soon as possible. It's hard to say what the exact cause is without examining Prompto first, but it may be due to an infection or perhaps an insect bite. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
