My old arthritic dog is crying and won't lift his head. What's wrong?

My dog is 17 years old an an has arthritis an he does have his days where he can't walk but he woke up an won't pick his head up an keeps crying out. What could be wrong? Pet's info: Dog | Doberman Pinscher | Male | 100 lbs

Hi there and thanks for posting. it is hard to say what exactly is the cause without examining Dutch first, but if he is not on any pain medication for the arthritis, he may just be very painful. However, there could also be another issue as well such as fracture, torn ligament, or neurological condition. I would advise getting Dutch into see his veterinarian very soon for an assessment and some pain medications. I hope this helps and best wishes to you and Dutch!
