My cat has a black spot on his eye. What's wrong and what should I do?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male

Hi there I would like to find out what is wrong with our baby's eye. The black spot on the eye has developed over the last few days. We have taken him to the vet about his eye before the black spot appeared. They said there is nothing they can do unless it's infected. What would you suggest we do, and what is the condition in his eye? He was a stray cat but has been with us for 6 years now. We don't know age or breed of cat. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

This looks like a corneal ulcer. I would have this checked. He may already be blind in that eye but this can be painful and can become infected. They will stain the eye to see if it’s an ulcer and give Titan medication to heal the cornea. If the eye is chronically painful then you may want to consider removing the eye if he’s blind in that eye. They should be able to tell if he can see anything during their exam. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Titan.
