My rabbit has worms in its poop. Vet visit or over-the-counter meds?

Hello, I have 5 month old rabbit. I just found a worm in one of his droppings this morning. Its a see through looking one ,apears to be pinworm I believe. Is there medications over the counter I could get from feed stores or should I call vet asap? Thanks

I recommend you take Smokey to a vet so you can be sure you are deworming for the correct type of worms and that you are giving the correct medication/dose. To answer your questions specifically, there is a dewormer called piperazine that will get rid of pinworms. I do not know if it is available over the counter in the UK (it is in the US). You must deworm your rabbit once weekly for three weeks to eliminate both the mature and immature worms. Hope this answers your question. If not, please feel free to post again.
