My puppy has diarrhea, skin issues, pale gums, and is always hungry.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Staffordshire Terrier | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 24 days old

My partner rescued a puppy and he seems really dehydrated all the time. His nose is crusty but he drinks plenty of water. He mostly has runny poos & has a restricted diet of dry dog food. He seems to eat more than he should and always seems hungry. He scratches a bit & has patches of dry sore skin with hair loss & sometimes scabs. I think his gums are more pale than they should be. He has an energetic & happy personality but im still worried for his health.

With that description, I would be worried as well. I think it is best if Kaos be examined by a vet. Diarrhea can be caused by a range of things, including intestinal parasites, bacterial or viral infections, dietary intolerance or indiscretion, among a few other things. Always being hungry can be a sign of previously poor or mal-nutrition, intestinal parasites, not feeding enough, etc. Itch can be caused by allergies (fleas, food, environment), flea bites, bacterial or fungal infection, or skin mites. Puppies are usually a little paler than adults since they don't have as many red blood cells, but it can also be caused by intestinal parasites, malnutrition, anemia, among others. As you can see, there are lots of things that could be going on with Kaos, but I am sure your vet can get it all sorted out!
