Can I repeat dog mange dip safely? Will my dog still be contagious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 years and 9 months old | 7.6 lbs

I sponged my dog with sulphur/dip today for mange 10/25/17. Would like to repeat the process in 5 days (Oct 31st) because I need to leave town (on Nov 1st) and leave her with a friend, but I have to be sure she is not contagious. In short: can the dip be safely repeated in 5 days and for the following 4 days can I be assured she will not infect a new household?

You can safely dip her again, but there is no guarantee that she will not be contagious (assuming she has sarcoptic mange). In order to know whether she will still be contagious, she would have to be tested by a veterinarian for the presence of the mites. I hope that helps and Lady B gets better soon.
