What bug did I find in my dog's ear that isn't an ear mite and has fangs?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 years and 4 months old | 42 lbs

I was wiping the ear wax out of my dogs ears & I found this weird bug in my dogs ear and it doesn't look like a mite to me. The front of it has little fang things as well..

Mites and lice are rarely visible with the naked eye. This could possibly be a tick, however, without seeing a picture it is not possible to tell. Please repost your question with a picture of the bug so that we may better assist you.

Helllo It sounds like Aspen may have had a tick in his year based on your description. I would put the bug in rubbing alcohol and seal the jar, and then check her whole body for any more. If you find any bites, it is good to have your vet checked her for embedded ticks. Best of luck!
