Pet's info: Dog | Spanish Water Dog | Male | unneutered | 6 months old | 33 lbs
Yesterday my dog ate something we didnt see but with an awful strong chemical scent, so we immediately brought him to the vet and had him puke about 40min after the incident. He vomited the smelly thign but we couldn't identify it, it didnt seem to have any pills. The vet barely informed us of anything, just gave us some medicines (vetgastril + samilyn). The dog has no fever, is active and we have been checking his gums for circulation issues. Anything else we can do? How worried should we be?

I know this is a very worrying time for you, but you did completely the right thing in taking the dog to the vet so quickly. If you had him vomit within 40 minutes then the majority of the gastric contents and the noxious substance will have come up. Sometimes I would also administer activated charcoal but it isn't strictly necessary when they vomit a good lot up. The medication that the vet gave you will help to line the stomach in case the substance has damaged the lining, the other medication is a liver support as it deals with a lot of potentially toxic substances. There really isn't much more you can do aside from being vigilant. If you knew exactly what the dog ingested sometimes other drugs can be administered such as vitamin k in rat poisoning. However your dog should be absolutely fine considering how quick you acted. You could feed Blue some liver as it helps with regenerating red blood cells etc. Best of luck, if you have any concerns at all please ask!
