My English Bulldog has skin patches. Is it allergies or infection?

Pet's info: Dog | English Bulldog | Male | neutered | 8 years and 5 months old | 60 lbs

Hi, we have a 7 year old english bulldog who has developed patches all over his skin. I would appreciate any help and advice as our vet does not seem to be very familiar with english bulldogs.

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! English Bull dogs are prone to allergies (food and environment), skin infections, demodex, and immune conditions. I would have the bumps checked to see if they are from a skin infection from yeast and/or bacteria. I would put Henry on Bravecto or Nexgard to cover for demodex. Since he is older I would have full blood work done, including a thyroid profile. If the skin doesn't improve on therapy in 3 weeks have some of the lesions biopsied to make sure it isn't skin cancer. Especially if skin problems are abnormal for him. If the lesions are more bumps than flat hairless areas and aren't consistent with a skin infection I would jump to the biopsy sooner. I hope this helps and I wish Henry a speedy recovery!
