Why is my 19-year-old cat licking, losing weight, and not eating?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Burmese | Male | neutered | 19 years old | 12 lbs

My 19yo Cat has been licking at two areas. I just also found I am pregnant. He had a uti when he was younger that caused them to do surgery where he is licking at. His belly flab from surgery and his butt underneathe the tail. He has a flea collar on and was treated to fleas a few years back. Seems not his atention holic self at times and he just recently lost his appetite. I will most likely take him to the vet this weekend. I can also feel more of his bones then before like spine and ribs

Please get him seen by your vet as soon as possible, behavior changes and weight loss in an older cat are always a concern. I would recommend blood and urine tests to rule out a uti, kidney issues or a hormonal condition such as diabetes or thyroid disease
