Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 4 lbs

First for all I am really thankful to the "Petco Pet Education Center" team for spontaneous response when my kitty was struggling which help me to take a better decision. She is now 80 perc. recovered and able to walk but there are two three wounds not major but water like liquid is coming out of that, could you please assist what could be the best treatment would be. As of Im cleaning the wound with "Hydrogen peroxide", and using Iodine liquid as giving her antibiotic syrup. Thanks and regards, Rahul

I am glad we could be of help! Unfortunately we don't have access to your previous post(s) so I don't have all of the information. Clear fluid coming from a wound is usually serum, which indicates healing. I do not recommend using peroxide on wounds since it actually kills new tissue cells and slows healing. Iodine is likely not needed at this point, either. I would continue the antibiotics, though. For cleaning, just use a warm wet wash cloth very gently around the wounds so that you do not interrupt the delicate tissue that forms to fill in the hole.
