My unneutered cat lost weight & stopped eating. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 8.5 lbs

Gary has lost waight resently and stopped eating regularly. I think that is because he is not spayed (he screams more dramatically in front of a door and marks constantly. This behavior has intensified with the days ). He was dewormed in September 30 by the way, I don't know if it can make him lose weight. But I am starting g to worry because today he rejected the food and went to scream in front in one of the rooms door. I scheduled the spraying but I was wondering other reasons.

I am sorry to hear that Gary is not feeling well. While being intact can make them have behavioral changes and actively seek out a mate, this shouldn't cause him to not eat or lose weight. I would definitely recommend taking him to veterinarian for an examination. It is possible that he is painful somewhere or has problems with his urinary tract that makes him painful and causes him to urinate where he shouldn't. I hope this helps and that Gary feels better soon.
