Hi my puppy has swallon lumps on face around eye after eating dog biscuits. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | 1 month and 22 days old

If this happened right after he ate the dog biscuits, he must be allergic to this food. it is very swollen so i would recommend bringing him to the vet right away to get an anti histamine injection to reduce the swelling.

Poor Bently! It sounds like a local allergic reaction. It is most likely from a big bite or insect sting. I would recommend to give her 25mg of Benadryl (1 adult tablet) by mouth and then go see a vet for an exam to ensure she doesn't need any additional medications like steroids.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Yes, puppies and dogs in general can develop food allergies at any time. Actually, most allergies are developed after some exposure to the food item causing it. Whenever a food allergy is suspected, the recommendation is to change the protein and carbohydrate so for example if you were feeding him a chicken and rice diet then you can switch to lamb and potato or rabbit and potato. If no improvement is observed in 2-3 months then it is time to check for other possible allergies like flea or environmental allergies. Good luck and have a good night!

The pictures are kind of blurry but I can tell there is some redness. The swelling is difficult to appreciate. It does seem like an allergic reaction to something, but what.....I cannot say. Since she is acting otherwise normally you can try to give her some over the counter antihistamine medication - you can use diphenhydramine (Benadryl). I would give her 1/2 of a 25mg caplet by mouth every 12 hours. If this has not resolved by Monday then she should see your vet. https://www.benadryl.ca/products/benadryl-caplets

The swollen stomach will be from eating the biscuits. There will be a bunch of sugar in these, and that can cause stomach upset. Watch Willow and if you see vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or a loss of appetite, have her seen by a vet.

If he experience severe facial swelling or difficulty breathing, then he will need to see an emergency veterinarian today. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is possibly due to an allergic reaction or it could even be an actual on going allergy to something like fleas, food or an allergen in the environment. Allergic reactions are usually treated with anti-histamine medications such as Benadryl and steroids. Cameron should be evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They could start therapy for this to see if it improves. In most cases it does improve and resolve and if no further exposures to the antigen occur, then this would not recur. Swelling of the face and mouth/facial swelling are often initial symptoms of an anaphylactic/allergic reaction. These reactions can occur in dogs after vaccines, after exposure to a food or substance they are allergic to, or after a bite from an insect. As it is impossible to predict whether an anaphylactic reaction will remain localized or progress to trouble breathing, which can be life threatening, it is safest to contact a 24 hour vet for Bella at this time to have her seen. The ER may recommend a treatment plan including anti-histamines, corticosteroids +/- epinephrine and montitoring until the selling has gone down. They will also likely recommend an at home dose for Benadryl after establishing a valid patient/client relationship if this should occur again as it is uncertain at this point what Bella is allergic to. Wishing Bella a quick recovery!

If the Benadryl was effective, I would have expected to see a reduction in the swelling by now. Sometimes allergic reactions require stronger drugs to treat such a steroids, and it sounds like this may be the cause for Moose. Because the swelling hasn't reduced and the reaction appears to be progressing, it's time to see a vet immediately. Please take him into an ER vet clinic if your regular vet is closed; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

It's probably an allergic reaction to either an insect, something in the environment or something he ingested. if it seems to just be getting worse you need to take him to the vet right now in order to get a steroid injection.

The safe dose of Benadryl to give is typically 1mg per 1lb of body weight every 12 hours. If there is no improvement or the area worsens I would get him seen by your vet as soon as possible.
