My albino rescue budgie is aggressive and bites. What can I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Unknown - Bird | Male | unneutered | 0.0661 lbs

I bought an albino budgie from the pet store because I noticed he was beaten by other birds in the cage, and he looked really bad, smaller than the others, missing a lot of feathers and couldn't hold his head up. He got a lot better now, has all feathers, he's not afraid anymore and holds his head up straight, but he got really really aggressive. He just really wants to bite me, and I need to get away from him when he's out, because he goes running after me just to bite me... What to do?! Thanks

Unfortunately Oliver has probably learnt to be very defensive with his start in the pet shop. Get him used to your hand by wearing a leather glove that he can't bite through. Be persistent in stroking him and reward him with fruit when he does not bite you. Eventually he should realise that your hand is not a threat and you can remove the glove.
