My dog had hookworms, still pale after deworming. Is this normal?

Hi, I took my dog into vet . And she ended up having hook worms. They gave me a dewormer. And I've given my dog the second worming on the 16th. But she still has not gotten her color back. Should I take her back to vet? Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | 11 years and 9 months old | 158 lbs

Even once the worms have been killed it will take a while for her colour to return as the body needs time to regenerate red blood cells and correct anaemia. Things you can do to help the process are feeding her high iron food such as liver and ask your vet for vitamin B12 injections. It may be worth testing that the worms are gone just in case there is resistance to the meds.
