Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 6 months old | 4 lbs
Hello! My 3 years cat has problems with her spine, she's partially paralysed and can't move without help; I bought her to the vet and after many exams the neurologist sayd that maybe she could have an ictus, but for further information on her conditions she has to undertake a magnetic resonance. What i'd like to ask you is this: is it dangerous for a cat in this situation to be anesthetized? Thanks for your assistance!

Hello, sorry to hear about Pamela. Anesthesia for any patient has its risks, however we do our best to minimize the potential for these risks. If her injury is to the lower back the risks are no more than the normal risks. If she has a brain injury then she may have higher risks for complications. If you need to speak with your veterinarian prior to the procedure about your concerns, you should do so. They can clarify any doubts or concerns you may have about the procedure. An MRI scan without surgery usually takes about 1 hour, therefore the anesthetic event is not very long. Hope this helps and best of luck.
