Why does my beagle have recurring dark, cone-shaped bumps on her nose?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Female | spayed | 10 years and 5 months old | 25 lbs

My female beagle has dark bumps on her nozzle and cheek that are firm, cone shaped and on top of the skin. The area above her nose has thinning hair. The cones get tall about 1/2 inch then can be removed by our gentle scratching and manipulation of her skin. We have removed three. But they return in different places on her nozzle.

Based on the pictures I am concerned that Daisy may have a skin infection. This could be bacterial or fungal, and each are treated differently. Other problems such as immune disorders can cause similar signs as well. I would recommend that she be evaluated by your veterinarian. Topical and/or oral medications may be used to improve her skin condition. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.
