Cat has a painless pea-sized lump on paw. Is it serious or infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My cat has a pea size lump on his paw about 5mm in diameter. No pain or redness. He can walk and climb perfectly. Is it fatal or could it be an infection from a wound because of cat fights? (He used to get into cat fights before he got neutered recently)

It could be a swollen area due to infection but they would normally be red and sore. Skin tumours can occur in feet, some of these are benign cysts but some will be cancerous. It is impossible to know for sure without testing the lump. This one doesn't look particularly aggressive do you could monitor it for now and then seek veterinary help if it appears to be growing or changing.
