Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 6 days old | 20 lbs
Hello! I'm bringing home a 3 month old Australian Shepherd puppy this weekend. The dog has only had two rounds of shots so far. I know these dogs need a lot of exercise, so I just want to get an idea of where I can and cannot take the dog before it is fully vaccinated.

Hi! How exciting! And yes, they do need lot's of exercise. I would avoid places where he can encounter other dogs, especially puppies. The biggest threat is parvo for puppies, and he'll have some immunity from the 2 vaccines, but until a few days after his last vaccines, I would avoid places that other puppies have been or might be encountered. Also make sure he's on a good dewormer (check with your vet what is appropriate for where you live). Have fun with your new puppy!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! You can take Ollie for walks and play with him at parks that are not dog parks. He can’t go to dog parks or doggie day care until 2 weeks after his final puppy series vaccines. He shouldn’t play with any puppies, sick dogs or dogs that are not fully vaccinated. I hope this helps and soon enough he can go anyway!
