Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 11 days old | 85 lbs

Okay so, it has been almost close to 24 hours since we stopped giving him flagyl 500 (Was throwing up while taking medication so that’s What we thought it was) but he just threw up again, and he isn’t chewing his food, he is swallowing them whole, he asks perfectly fine too! Is him not chewing his food causing him to throw up? Why isn’t he chewing his food!:(

Hi there and thanks for posting! Oh dear, this sounds stressful for everyone involved. He ma not be chewing his food due to just inhaling his food very quickly. if this is the case I would want to get Zeus a special dog food bowl that has indentations and lines in it like a circular maze. This will enable him to slow down when he eats. Another possibility may be dental or oral pain due to a tooth infection. You may want to take Zeus to his veterinarian for an oral exam to rule out a dental problem. I hope this helps and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
