Dog ate geranium, threw up twice. Is it safe to wait for the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | unspayed | 3 years and 8 months old | 13 lbs

My very tiny pug chewed on a little stem from a cranesbill geranium yesterday, but my husband took it out of her mouth. About 30 mins- 1 hour later she threw up, she seemed fine, still her hyper self. But then in the middle of the night she threw up again. Our vet doesn’t operate on the weekends, and we don’t have nearly enough funds right now for a vet hospital... is she ok to wait until hopefully tomorrow to get her in to our regular vet??

Try not to panic too much, if your husband got the stem off her she has likely only had a little bit which has caused her to feel a bit nauseous. Being sick twice in that period is not too bad, as long as she can keep water down and isn't looking dehydrated I think you'll be fine to wait until tomorrow.
