It depends the medication Chubs is taking, as some medication must be given with food. Please post again with the name of the medication she is taking so I or another expert can advise you if she can take her medication without eating.

I'm so sorry to hear about Lusso. If she has a sensitive stomach, then I would try to give the Loxicam with a little food. Even a small amount of a treat or a bit of bread might be enough. If she generally does not have a problem with a sensitive stomach and Loxicam has never bothered her before, then you might be able to get away with giving it on an empty stomach, but I always recommend trying to get something into them around the same time as the medication to prevent other problems. If there is a particular time of day that she tends to eat better than others, you may also consider changing the time of day that you give the Loxicam, so it can be with some food. Good luck! This question really depends on what medicaiton she is getting daily. Yes it is true that some pets take time to adjust but she should still be energetic and relatively normal otherwise. She also should be receptive to taking yummy irrresistible treats. I would recommend offering her some boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese to see if you can coax her to eat a full meal. Once she eats you should be able to resume her medicaiton. Also please keep in mind that some medicaitons can cause lack of appetite as a side effect so it is important to have her re-evaluated by your local vet if she is having such a reaction. She may even need to be placed on a different medicaiton that her body will agree with. If you need to discuss her case more in detail feel free to request a consultation at your convenience. Typically, a bland diet (such as boiled white meat chicken and white rice) can be helpful for medication-induced GI upset. If your dog isn't eating, vomiting, having diarrhea or otherwise feeling ill, then I would recommend having him evaluated by his veterinarian, as something more than just a medication reaction may be going on. How to give deworming tablets to dog ? Is it safe to give on empty stomach or in filled stomach?
Hello. Most wormers can be administered either way. I would hid the wormer in something tasty like peanut butter, cream cheese, Cheese Whiz or something similar, but sticky enough to prevent Bruno from finding & spitting out the medication. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Hey, Pharah has been on Sporimune treatment for 3 or 4 months now. 5 days a week. Instructions say she can't eat 2 hours before and after her dose. Can she have a small dog snack right after medicine? She's really starting to hate Sporimune so maybe
I would give her the medication as instructed, and do not give Pharah a snack after her dose. It's very important to follow any medication as prescribed, or it won't work as needed. I hope this helps!

Hi been giving my dog atopica but she keeps being sick with it is it ok to give with food as I have been giving it on an empty stomach up to now ?
Atopica works most effectively when given on an empty stomach. That said, I have recommended to some patients to initially give it with food until some of the GI upset has resolved, knowing that the medication will not be as effective. Once the GI signs resolve, we then give it on an empty stomach. You should speak with your vet before trying this approach. I hope Lily is able to tolerate her Atopica and feel better soon!

My cat was prescribed medicine to be taken with food, but he refuses to eat. Should I give him the medicine in an empty stomach?
It's best to get the medicine in him, especially if it is an antibiotic. If there is something your cat cannot resist, such as cheese, or yogurt, try giving it to him after you give the medicine. That way he will come to associate getting the pill with getting a treat. Yogurt is especially good if your cat is getting an antibiotic as it helps reestablish the gut flora that antibiotics remove. Just make sure the yogurt you give does not have any artificial sweeteners. Plain or vanilla is best. Not eating is a serious matter in cats. They cannot go more than a few days without eating or they risk liver damage. Try enticing your pet to eat with beef or chicken baby food that does not contain onion or garlic power as an ingredient. Onion and garlic causes anemia in dogs and cats. Warm it in the microwave for a few seconds. Stir it with your finger first to make sure there are no hot spots and that it isn't too hot. My dog was on antibiotics for heartworms. She kept vomiting, having diarrhea, and won't eat. So after the 2nd day I took her to the vet. They did a fecal and found that she has 3 different parasites. They told me to stop the antibiotics for a 3 days
Hello and welcome to Boop by Petco. If Peggy has a large worm burden (lots of worms) then she likely feels sick and doesn't want to eat, and likely won't want to eat until the worms are gone. If the medication that your vet gave is a dewormer (typically a liquid called Panacur/Fenbendazole), then you can give it without food. This might clear out the worms and get Peggy eating again. If the medication is an antibiotic (Metronidazole, Amoxyclav), then this needs to be given with food. You can also talk to your vet about trying an anti-nausea medication to see if this helps with the appetite. If Peggy has abdominal pain, or is vomiting, please have her seen right away as high worm burdens can lead to a very life-threatening condition called intussusception.
