Why is my dog still bleeding after heat and chattering her teeth?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 9 months and 20 days old | 15 lbs

Gypsy Is having a few issues that I can't place, she had her 1st heat in August and she still bleeds off and on? So I'm confused.. she has started having spells where she will click her teeth rapidly a few seconds while her head muscles twitch?? This is all running together any help as to what is going on on either of these issue s would be great.. thanks.

I would recommend that you have Gypsy examined by a vet for these issues. I can't think of a reason that these symptoms would be related. It is very unusual for a dog to continue to bleed after being in heat (which may last several weeks) and could indicate that there is something abnormal with her uterus. The teeth chattering and muscle twitching could be a nervous or anxious behavior, seizures or other neurologic disorder, a musculoskeletal disorder, or a type of seizure that occurs in dogs that recovered from Distemper Virus - called a chewing gum fit. Try to get this episode in a video so you can show your vet. After examination, your vet will probably do a thorough physical and neurologic examination to see if it reveals any more information. The vet may recommend spaying Gypsy to remove the hormones that could contribute to abnormal bleeding.
