What to give a dog for flea allergy bites and persistent itching?

So recently, by surprise I found that Nova is allergic to fleas. I was coming her out after a bath one day and noticed fleas on the flea comb. Which threw me for a loop because I used topical flea treatment on her every month. But I notice she broke out from the bites. Is there anything I can give her to help clear the bites up? They are definitely still bothering her. I treated my whole house, yard, and her with some pretty potent flea treatment. But she is still itchy.

Poor Nova! You've done the right thing by treating your whole house, yard, and her. I would have her seen by a vet. She will need medications such as anti-histamines or possibly steroids to treat this reaction. The vet will decide which medication is best and safest to use on her. Until you can get her into a vet, I recommend giving her an oatmeal bath as that may give her temporary relief from her itching. I hope this helps!

It looks like she has a flea allergy dermatitis and is in need of prescription medications. You need to schedule an appointment with your vet for treatment. She likely needs an antibiotic, corticosteroid, and flea prevention to treat her skin infection and help control the flea problem. A flea bath is not going to be enough. She needs a flea prevention like Nexgard, Credelio, Bravecto, etc and your vet can prescribe one.

Poor Nova! This looks like a pretty severe skin problem. Skin mites (mange) are one possibility, but this could also be caused by allergies, fleas, or a bacterial or fungal skin infection. Treatment will depend on what the underlying problem is, so I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam as soon as you are able to. He/she can do some simple skin tests to help diagnose the problem and prescribe appropriate medication to treat it depending on what is found. In the meantime, you could try bathing her in an aloe and oatmeal dog shampoo to help soothe her skin and temporarily relieve some of the itching. This will not treat the underlying problem, but may help to make her a bit more comfortable until you're able to see the vet.

I'm not sure the medication you are currently using. But he should be on a good flea preventative of course (in my experience the oral products have been working well lately). If the fleas are gone but he is still itchy talk to his vet about adding in a medication for itchiness - there are several options here and your vet can advise you on the best one for Ned. A cool bath with oatmeal shampoo may also help soothe his skin (as long as you haven't applied a topical flea medication in past two days ).

This is probably due to a severe allergy, although it could also be fleas or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat her with a high quality flea treatment (e.g. advantage), then get her to the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try discovering the cause of the allergy. Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair the skin lesions (steroids and antibiotics). simultaneously you should start her on a prescription hypoallergenic diet for at least 2 months. Hopefully you will see some results after all this, if not you and your vet should consider putting her on a long term allergy treatment (Atopica or Apoquel).

My dog recently got bit by fleas. I have taken care of that by giving buddy one dose of bravecto,but what can I do about the itching???
It can take some time for the fleas to completely die off. You might talk to your vet about a round of Apoquel or prednisone to help with the itching until the fleas are completely gone. Benadryl won't really help in this situation. You could also try an oatmeal pet shampoo.

The best flea medications now are tablets you give monthly called nexgard or simpatico or every three months called bravecto. Giving your dog a weekly bath in a medicated shampoo can help soothe her skin. If there is a lot of scabs and hair loss, she may need antibiotics and anti itch medicine to completely resolve it from your vet

Poor Lucky! Flea bites can be very irritating to the skin. If she received an oral flea medication today at the vet's office, you can try bathing her in an aloe and oatmeal dog shampoo to help soothe the irritation and make her feel better. If her flea medication was topical (applied to the skin), then unfortunately she can't be bathed for a few days without washing off the medication. In that case, I would suggest asking your veterinarian about an over-the-counter medication like Benadryl - this can be used in dogs to hep with itching and skin irritation in some cases, but should only be given if directed by your puppy's vet.

Poor Duchess sounds very uncomfortable! If she isn't on a flea treatment program such as a monthly spot on treatment, then she certainly could have fleas even if you don't see them. Weekly baths do not provide any protection again fleas. It could also be allergies, but food allergies are actually rare in dogs so it could be environmental allergies or a flea allergy as you suggested. The only way to know for sure is to have her seen by a vet, and I'd recommend taking her today since she sounds so itchy. The vet can diagnose the cause of the itching and the best way to treat it. As for the drugs you mentioned, unfortunately, by law it is illegal for the experts at Boop by Petco to give the dose information for any drug, including OTC drugs, without seeing the animal in person first. My dog had an issue regarding flees for more than 3 months , we used to wash him with a shampoo but it only lasted 2 days and flees would attack him again . We thought after all the thourough cleaning and room cleanse would remove fleas after a while
The only way to help your dog is to make sure there are absolutely no fleas that can bite him as that can cause the allergy. Besides the flea medication from the vet you need to do the following: Unfortunately fleas only hop on the body of your pet when they want to feed, then they hop off again and stay in your pet's environment. So you need to treat all pets in the household as well as the environment (which contains the fleas, their eggs and larvae). Flea treatment:  1) Get some flea medication such as a Flea spray or a spot on from a pet shop or your veterinarian and apply monthly 2) get flea powder, put some in your vacuum cleaner bag and vacuum your house and furniture and also non-carpeted areas frequently to remove flea larvae and eggs which live off house dust., Dispose of the bag in the trash outside.
