My puppy ate feminine pads and is throwing up. Is it a blockage?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 7 days old | 3 lbs

My dog is throwing up what looks like spit. He won't eat and I've took him to vet and he has had his shots and doesn't have parvo bc I had test done for it also. Although he did get into the bathroom trash and ate some used feminine pads. When he goes to throw up sometimes nothing comes up but he acts as if he has a hairball or something. He is 9 weeks and weighs 3 lbs. Could his stomach be upset from that?

I would be very concerned that the feminine pads are causing Tank's vomiting. These are absorbent and could easily cause a blockage in his GI tract leading to the vomiting. A blockage of the GI tract is fatal without treatment, so I would take him back into a vet now for a physical exam and x-rays. If these pads are blocking his GI tract, he will need surgery to remove them. Please take him into a vet now.
