My rabbit won't eat new pellets after a food change. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | 3 months and 1 day old

Actually start from 2 days back it won't eat the pellets and will only eat them when I feed it using my hand. So, today I decided to try to put the old pellets that it used to eat back at it's original owner place instead of letting it eat the new one I changed for it 2 months ago.As a result it does it the old one that look like the stick.I don't know why.

Julius is a great name for a Rabbit. I am a little confused by your questions. it sounds like Julius was eating the old pellets well but when you tried to transition him to new pellets he stopped eating. When you offered him the old pellets he started eating again. If this is correct I would recommend slowly offering the new pellets while cutting back on the old pellets. You can even put them in the cage in different areas. I would not recommend mixing the pellets incase it makes Julius not eat at all. It is very important for rabbits to eat a large amount of roughage like timothy hay. I would recommend 90% roughage and only 10 % pellets. I hope that helps
