Could my dog's new hard lumps on his rib and chest be tick fever?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 8 years old | 30 lbs

Greetings Doctor. Is it possible for a dog to have few small hard mass type lumps/bumps as a result of tick fever ? I suddenly noticed a small hard bump on one of hes rib, one small ball like lump on chest below adjacent to hes armpit under the skin. They are not growing.

To be sure and get a diagnosis, I would have Scooby checked out by a vet. Tick bites can cause a local reaction, sometimes it shows up as a small pimple or a scab, but rarely something the size I would call a lump. Tick fever itself does not usually cause lumps in the skin. Other possible causes for a lump in this area include a lipoma (fatty tumor), seroma from trauma, an abscess, or another type of tumor.
