My healthy dog ate my other dog's kidney food. Should I worry?

Hi, I have two dogs. One is 3 and is healthy and in very good shape. The other is 11 and she has kidney disease. Because of that, we were given special kidney food for her, dry and wet. We've been mixing the two together so she is more interested and has more of an appetite. Today her food was on the floor, nearly untouched, and I made the mistake of walking away from it. Our healthy dog ended up eating the whole thing. Should I be worried? Is it a problem if a healthy dog eats medical food?

No, it is generally not an issue in cases of a one time ingestion. At worst, the sudden diet change may cause some gastrointestinal upset in your younger dog. This can be managed, if necessary, with a 24 hour fast followed by a bland diet until symptoms resolve.
